Well, it’s come to this. A blog. About Corona virus and the knock-on effects.

Firstly. Don’t worry. It’s business as usual here at Record Café towers. Events (bar the ones mentioned below) will go ahead as normal and we’ll continue to carefully select the very finest new records, beers and the tastiest charcuterie and cheese for your pleasure and delight.

As we have done from the day we opened we’ll also continue to maintain the highest standards in hygiene at The Record Café.

However, we will also take all the extra measures needed to address the current situation for ourselves and our customers based on the latest government advice.

So, what are the knock-on effects?

Record Store day

As you may have heard, Record Store Day has been put back to Saturday June 20th. This shouldn’t alter any releases or how the day operates. It’s simply been shifted to a later date. So, we’ll resume with wishlists, ordering and other plans for the day nearer the time. Stay tuned to the website and our social media.

Sporting Lunchtime Lectures

As the football season has been put on hold until April 4th at the earliest, we’ll put the Sporting Lunchtime Lectures due to take place on 14th and 21st March on hold.

Should the football season resume on April the 4th, when the next one is due, that one will go ahead as planned.

Hopefully we can then go ahead with the postponed lectures on the rearranged dates. Again, stay tune to social media.

Independent businesses

Finally, this is obviously a tough time for everyone. Especially those effected by the outbreak. It is also a very tough time for independent businesses like ours up and down the country.

Businesses like us only survive by people coming through the doors and buying what we sell. It pays the bills and the wages of our ace team.

Right now we all need your support and custom more than ever. So please, wash your hands to the appropriately timed song of your choice, take care of yourselves, but buy that album to support that musician, go out for that meal, enjoy amazing beers to help bars, pubs and breweries and please, support us and our fellow independents.

Cheers,

Keith and The Record Café team
